Joie Quarton, LL.M

Whitehorse, Yukon

  • I have been interested in restorative ways to resolve conflict since my first weeks in law school, which is a very long time ago! Since then, I have worked hard to build my skills, knowledge and experience as a mediator, arbitrator and coach, with a focus on helping people and organizations in the north resolve or manage their conflicts in constructive ways. I adjudicated Indian residential school claims of physical and sexual abuse for nine years, and for the past ten years, worked for the Yukon Government, helping to implement its Respectful Workplace Policy, which was based on restorative approaches to managing organizational and interpersonal conflict. I think there is a creative and appropriate response to every conflict and work hard to identify what is causing the conflict and find a helpful intervention.
